ERANOS
Acta Philologica Suecana
A Vilhelmo Lundström Condita

History
When Wilhelm Lundström founded Eranos in 1896 he was lecturer at Uppsala university. In 1907, Lundström was appointed professor of Classical philology at University of Gothenburg, then “Göteborgs högskola”. He transferred the journal – and its since then dismantled publishing house, Eranos’ förlag – to his new university and had sole charge of it until his death in 1940.

After Lundström, the journal was returned to Uppsala in 1945 through its new editor-in-chief, Tönnes Kleberg, who had been appointed head of Uppsala University Library. With Kleberg and his successors (Jan-Olof Tjäder, Sten Eklund and Maria Berggren), the journal remained at Uppsala until 2002.

Between 2002 and 2014, Eranos was edited from Stockholm by Eva-Carin Gerö. From vol. no. 107 (2012–2013, published 2015) the journal is based in Gothenburg. Over the years, Eranos has been edited with the help of various co-editors (listed below).

The current board of editors (2016–) consists of (in alphabetical order):

Johanna Akujärvi, Lund University (sub-editor)
Erik Bohlin, University of Gothenburg
Eric Cullhed, Uppsala University
Gunhild Vidén, University of Gothenburg

Kjell Weinius, Uppsala, is responsible for subscriptions and distribution.

A national board, consisting of representatives from the different Swedish universities, has an advisory function.
